medicusmundi conducted a two-day training course to strengthen the health emergency referral and response system in Namuno, with support from the Spanish Cooperation Agency and the L'Hospitalet de Llobregat Municipality.
Strengthening the technical skills of professionals to ensure a more effective response to health emergencies.
On February 10 and 11, medicusmundi delivered training in the Namuno district, focusing on the referral and counter-referral system and health emergency management, as part of strengthening the technical capacities of professionals in the National Health System.
The training was attended by healthcare professionals, especially general practitioners from the district's ten health units. The opening session was led by the District Medical Director, who emphasized the importance of strengthening the technical skills of professionals to ensure a more effective response to health emergencies.
During the two-day workshop, the main focus was on managing health emergencies and the importance of correctly referring patients according to their level of clinical severity, promoting efficient coordination between the different levels of the healthcare system. Referral and counter-referral processes were also addressed, with the aim of improving continuity of care and reducing the risk of complications associated with delays in treatment.
This initiative contributes to strengthening the responsiveness of the district's health services, reinforcing the technical skills of healthcare professionals and, consequently, improving coordination mechanisms between health units, as well as ensuring greater quality, continuity, and safety in the delivery of care. In this way, the activity also reinforces the institutional commitment to the development and consolidation of local health services, contributing to a more resilient health system better prepared to meet the needs of the population.
This activity is part of the AECID Agreement 22-CO1-398 “Improving the quality, coverage and resilience of the Cabo Delgado healthcare system”, implemented by medicusmundi, in collaboration with the National Health System of Mozambique, and financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), with co-financing from the Catalan municipality of Hospitalet de Llobregat.
