The project "Social Determinants of Health: the best strategy against COVID-19 in Maputo" continues the essential work of strengthening the Commission of Social Determinants of the Maputo Municipal Council through a strategy that pays special attention to the response to health crises, such as the one caused by COVID-19; and also to gender justice, conservation and sustainable management of the environment, and community intervention and participation in health management.
This strategy is carried out in collaboration with the Municipal Council, as the main actor and duty-bearer, with organised civil society and, finally and in an innovative way, with the network of social communication bodies of Mozambique (MISA), a key element in reaching the entire population, carrying out political advocacy and promoting journalism that contributes to making the right to health effective. In this way, basic public services, such as health, will be addressed from a broad, multi-sectoral perspective, seeking collaborations between sectors such as education, the environment, housing, etc.
