The Xipamanine Health Centre in Maputo unveiled a collaborative mural today dedicated to the inclusion of people with disabilities, with the support of the Municipality of Barcelona.
Inclusion is everyone's responsibility.
With an explosion of vibrant colours and striking shapes, the mural unveiled at the Xipamanine Health Centre, on May 27, 2026, has become a symbol of inclusion and respect for the rights of people with disabilities. The artwork, led by artist Sebastião Coana, with the collaboration of young people from the community, not only beautifies the entrance to the facility but also communicates with the outside world, inviting the community to actively participate in this initiative.
The inauguration ceremony took place after a tour of the health facilities and was attended by the city councillors for Health and Quality of Life, Alice de Abreu, and for Women, Social Assistance, and Family, Anabela Inguane. Also participating were the Director of Health for the Nlhamankulu Municipal District, staff from the health centre, delegations from medicusmundi, the Municipality of Barcelona, and the Barcelona Municipal Institute for People with Disabilities.
This mural serves as a visual and community reminder that inclusion is everyone's responsibility, and that health and quality of life are strengthened when the rights of every person are recognized and promoted.
This activity is part of the project "Improving municipal policies for people with disabilities in Maputo", funded by the Municipality of Barcelona and implemented by medicusmundi, in collaboration with the Maputo Municipal Council (CMM) and the Association of People with Disabilities of Mozambique (ADEMO).
