The Municipal Commission on Social Determinants of Health meets again in Maputo

to develop strategies and models with a view to improving access to health facilities

The main objectives of the meeting were: 1) to present the project and the progress achieved in its first semester of implementation to the members of the Municipal Commission on Social Determinants of Health (CDSS); 2) to discuss the creation of strategies for the development of inclusive policies at the municipal level, looking at the results that are intended to be achieved in the project.

This meeting also served to update the pillars that make up the CDSS, as well as to design the next steps, namely: to create a CDSS work plan within the scope of the project; definition of a structure responsible for inclusion policies, with the participation of municipal managers from different sectors and departments; and, finally, the creation of transversal public policies for the inclusion of people with disabilities.

The focal point of the Mozambican Association of Disabled People (ADEMO) at the CDSS, Farida Gulamo, also shared information about the visit to the Municipality of Barcelona that took place in May, together with other members of the project. And she stated that, with this exchange of experiences, “it will be possible, for example, to develop strategies and models with a view to improving access to health facilities located in the city of Maputo.”

The meeting ended with suggestions to streamline the work model between partners and set dates for the most urgent activities.
