Promoting positive and non-violent models of masculinity.

On December 3 and 4, a training workshop was held at the Hotel Polana Serena, in the city of Maputo, bringing together 30 media professionals, including journalists, television presenters, and digital influencers.

The training focused on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and New Masculinities, aiming to raise awareness among professionals who play a crucial role in disseminating information and shaping public opinion. The event emphasized the importance of ethical and responsible communication capable of deconstructing patriarchal norms and promoting positive, non-violent models of masculinity, taking into account global concerns regarding the impact and risks associated with social media influence.

In addition to the project partners, the workshop was supported by ForLead and Associação Ziqo Contra a Violência.

Over the course of two days, participants engaged in debates, theoretical presentations, and practical exercises, strengthening their role as multiplier agents in the prevention of violence and the promotion of gender equality.

This activity is part of the implementation of the project "Consolidating exit routes from gender-based violence in Maputo (Mozambique) - Phase 2", funded by the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation (ACCD) and implemented by medicusmundi, in collaboration with Associação Hixikanwe and Rede HOPEM.
