The construction of the new maternity unit in Meloco (Namuno) - province of Cabo Delgado – begins, within the framework of the Agreement 22-CO1-398 “Improving the quality, coverage and resilience of the Cabo Delgado health system”, implemented by medicusmundi and financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
The ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a maternity unit, requalification of the 2 existing buildings and construction of the fence took place today, January 25, 2024, at the Meloco Health Centre, at the same administrative post, district of Namuno, province of Cabo Delgado, a work valued at 26,523,842.90 MZN, with a completion period of 6 months.
This work is part of the Health Sector Infrastructure Development Plan, in the province of Cabo Delgado, and is financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), within the framework of the Agreement 22-CO1-398 “Improving the quality, coverage and resilience of the Cabo Delgado health system”, implemented by medicusmundi.
Speech by the Administrator to the population of Meloco
This event was attended by the Honourable Administrator of the District of Namuno, Maria Felisbela Lázaro, the Coordinator of medicusmundi in Cabo Delgado, the Head of the Administrative Post of Meloco, the District Director of Health of Namuno, the Director of the District Planning and Infrastructure Service of Namuno, staff of the District Secretariat, Health Technicians assigned to the Meloco Health Centre, Community Leaders and the general population.
During the ground-breaking ceremony, the Honourable Administrator addressed the population, leaving a message of gratitude to medicusmundi and the AECID, for the achievements in the Namuno district, in terms of improving the response capabilities of the health sector. She also urged the population to report any incorrect behaviour, which in any way could jeopardize the completion of this infrastructure, which is a good for all.
